According to customer service confirmation, HSBC HK will no longer accept customers holding Hong Kong and Macau travel permits (Mainland customers) to open HSBC One accounts at physical branches.
Opening accounts through the mobile financial app remains unaffected.
Additionally, unverified information indicates that new Mainland customers opening HSBC HK accounts will face stricter anti-money laundering requirements, such as no transfers allowed during the initial account opening period.
